Boycotts in the Baltic
On September 25th a half-day seminar was held at our offices in Göteborg on the subject of boycotts in the Baltic. The emphasis was on industrial actions/boycott actions in Finland and Sweden, similarities and differences. The Viking Line case which is presently referred to the ECJ was discussed as well as other cases in the context of the existing clash between the fundamental right to strike and the fundamental rights guaranteed under the Treaty of Rome to provide Maritime Services but also referring to the movement of workers within the European Community. The seminar was held by Henrik Gahmberg of Gahmberg & Co. Ltd. Helsinki and Ian Ross and John Blacker of Ross & Co. Solicitors, London.
