The Singapore Maritime and Port Authority (MPA) issued a Circular reminding the shipping community of the need to ensure that information transmitted by a ship’s Automatic Identification System (AIS) is complete and accurate. Problems occur in numerous areas, including incorrect static data during installation, incorrect dynamic data from ship’s sensors, and failure to update voyage data. Masters are advised to check the actual transmissions of their AIS devices. Port Marine Circular No. 21 of 2005 (https://www.mpa.gov.sg/circulars_and_notices/pdfs/pc05-21.pdf) (10/11/05).
