
Summer Trainee – Claims
We offer one trainee position with our Göteborg based teams for the summer period of 2007. If you are a young Lawyer, a Master Mariner or a Marine Engineer and interested to work in the field of marine insurance claims, please see below for a description of the position and the required qualifications.
Introduction
Our operation is divided into four teams and two of them are located in Göteborg. Each team is responsible for members within a certain geographical area and has all necessary resources to deliver high quality services in relation to all classes of insurance offered by the Club. The teams’ claims handlers are responsible for the handling of claims arising under the various types of insurance, primarily Protection & Indemnity (P&I), Hull & Machinery (H&M) and Freight Demurrage & Defence (FD&D). Currently twelve claims executives and hull claims adjusters, mainly with legal or nautical background, are part of our Göteborg based teams.
Work description
The traineeship will comprehend handling of P&I and H&M cases independently or under supervision depending on the complexity of the individual case and the Trainee’s competence and capability. The trainee will also carry out certain routine tasks and serve as an extra resource for the teams during the vacation season.
Period of trainee ship
The traineeship period is approximately 2 ½ months during the period June – August 2007. A trainee salary will be paid.
Qualifications
The trainee position is offered to you who is either
• A young lawyer, recently qualified or in the final stages of your legal education. You should have knowledge or experience of Maritime or Transportation law. In addition, understanding of or familiarity with marine insurance, shipping or nautical matters are useful qualifications.
• A young Master Mariner. Some knowledge of Maritime or Transportation law or understanding of marine insurance are useful qualifications.
• A young Marine Engineer. Some knowledge of Maritime or Transportation law or understanding of marine insurance are useful qualifications.
You are residing in Sweden and have to be fluent in Swedish and in good command of English. You have no difficulties in expressing yourself accurately in writing.
