
Underwriter – Team I Göteborg
We are looking for a person with 5-10 years working experience who is eager to work in the field of marine insurance.
Our operation is divided into four teams and two of them are located in Göteborg. Each team is responsible for members within a certain geographical area and has all necessary resources to deliver high quality services in relation to all classes of insurance offered by the Club. As a member of The Swedish Club staff you will experience an international and stimulating business environment. Ships trading on a worldwide basis continuously offer new situations and a changing legal environment puts increasing demands on insurance.
Work Description
As an Underwriter you are responsible for negotiating and concluding insurance contracts and ensuring a sound portfolio through proper risk assessment. The working tasks include:
- Drawing up business plans
- Taking part in the business development process
- Negotiating and concluding renewals for all relevant insurance classes
- Underwriting new business
- Monitoring and supporting insurance documentation and premium routines
- Risk Assessment
- Developing and maintaining a contact base with members
- Monitoring developments in the insurance and shipping markets
- Analysis of markets
- Planning and executing marketing activities
The job offers travelling and constant communication with shipowners and brokers in several countries. The major markets of Team 1 are Sweden, Turkey and Europe except Germany and Greece.

The place of work is our head office in Göteborg, Gullbergs Strandgata 6.
Qualifications
This Underwriter position is offered to you who have five to ten years working experience from B2B selling or marketing of services, preferrably within Marine Insurance or other property/liability insurance business. Work in an international environment or experience from the maritime shipping business creates added value. We believe that your educational background includes a university degree in either Business & Administration, Law or Shipping, although this is not a strict requirement.
You have to be fluent in Swedish and English. You must be able to express yourself accurately in writing in both languages.
We are looking for a result oriented person with long term perspective. You need excellent social skills and a pro-active work style.
